Museums are palaces for sheltering and inheriting human civilization, and important platforms for exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations. From July 6 to July 11, 2022, the National Museum of China and 33 leading museums at home and abroad will gather online to jointly hold the event Treasure Hunt Relay: Global Museum Director’s Choice under the theme of “Hand in Hand: Share the Splendor of World Civilizations.” Ten directors from domestic museums will join hands to effectively tell China’s stories and convey China’s voice. Together with 24 directors from foreign museums across five continents, they will showcase the splendid achievements of human civilizations through the display of close to 150 fine collections, uphold and spread the civilizational concepts of equality, mutual learning, dialogue and inclusiveness, enhance the understanding of the values of different civilizations, and promote the development of a community with a shared future for mankind.
Diversity spurs interaction among civilizations, which in turn promotes mutual learning and further development. The Treasure Hunt Relay: Global Museum Director’s Choice event is not only a welcome attempt of the National Museum of China to encourage diversified interactions, but also a collective action of the global museum community to conduct multilateral exchanges. The event will allow the museum industry to make a unique contribution to the development of a community with a shared future for mankind.
